Linker was my Master’s project in my Master’s in Interactive Media at the University of Limerick. Stemming from an idea that first came to me in 2016, I attempted to design a social smartphone application that would act as a community based knowledge pool where fake news pieces could be debunked.
Linker aims to be a social media platform that supports community based knowledge sharing with the specific goal of preventing the spread of fake news. Rather than using a computer to algorithmically differentiate fake news pieces from real ones, Linkr gives power to us humans to mark a piece of news as fake or real.

• I kicked off the
design process with a
period of research
where I tried to
establish details
about my product.
• This stage included
clearly identifying the
demographic for
whom this app was
being designed and
the exact problems
that I wanted the app
to solve.
• On competion of the
research phase, I
created a low fidelity
prototype of the app
on paper.
• This prototype was
then user tested with
a group of
participants in order
to try and identify
aspects of the design
that were easy to use
and those that
weren’t.
• Once the results of
the low fidelity
prototype’s user tests
were studied, work
began on creating a
high fidelity
prototype.
• I used Adobe XD to
create the prototype. I
also used Photoshop
and Illustrator to
create elements of
the interface.
• Once complete,
another set of user
tests were run.
